How I Work

Although I use primarily Cognitive Behavioural techniques in treatment, I draw on elements of Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness.

I provide a non-judgemental, safe and comfortable space for clients to talk about their distress or anxiety and to tell me about what has gone on in their lives to bring them to therapy.

A thorough assessment will help identify any unhelpful thinking patterns or behaviours and help us highlight goals for therapy. You might already have a clear idea of these but please don’t worry if you don’t, we can look at this together.

I work collaboratively with my clients and together we discuss appropriate in-between session tasks (sometimes we call this homework!) This can be challenging but worthwhile and you will be supported along the way, until you feel that you are able to be your own therapist!

Although what you tell me is confidential, there are some exceptions, which I can explain further when we meet.

I will also ask you to sign a therapy agreement with me.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions in a treatment block varies depending on the complexity of the issue.

The first session is a full assessment where I find out about you and what the current problems are and how they are affecting your life. From this we can develop a ‘formulation’, which is basically a map of your thoughts, behaviours and emotions, to show how they are linked. We use this to develop a suitable treatment plan for you to follow.

55 minute session –  £50

Cancellation: Please note that 24 hours notice is required if cancelling appointments. If I need to cancel, I will do my best to fit you back in as soon as I can.
